1974 Pontiac Trans Am Super Duty 455 18k actual miles unrestored museum quality
CMC is pleased to have one of the finest original 1974 Pontiac Trans am Super Duties in the country!
Originally delivered to Andy Klein Pontiac in Overland Park, Kansas, this Buccaneer Red 1974 Super Duty 455 Trans Am with a white interior and black accents is a highly original, unrestored example with just 18,147 miles showing on the odometer at the time of writing. Powered by a 455 CI V-8 and automatic transmission, it is also a well-optioned car featuring power steering, power front disc brakes, air conditioning, dual color-keyed sport mirrors with remote driver's side, a pushbutton radio with 8-track player, bucket seats with a console, a Formula steering wheel on a tilt steering column, dual exhaust with chrome tips, and honeycomb wheels mounting BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. The original exhaust system has been replaced with a stainless steel system.
The LS2 option code 455 Super Duty featured a number of upgrades compared to the standard L75 455 4-barrel. In addition to a heavy-duty 4-bolt block with reinforced lifter bores and provisions for dry-sump oiling, it also featured large-chamber, round-port heads with enlarged intake ports and 2.11-inch intake and 1.77-inch exhaust valves. A special 301/313-degree camshaft was used, along with a specific intake manifold with a specially calibrated Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. Spent gasses were expelled through high-capacity cast-iron headers flowing into a dual exhaust system. The engine was rated at 290 HP at 4,000 RPM with 390 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 RPM. In reality, the engine was putting out closer to 400 HP, as the 4,000 RPM the engine was rated at was well short of its peak.
